GARDA VETTING REGULATIONS

The National Vetting Bureau (Children and Vulnerable Persons) Acts 2012-2016 provides a statutory basis for the vetting of persons carrying out relevant work with children or vulnerable persons.

In a school situation this means that any volunteer involved in any capacity should be vetted under the current guidelines.

The Act stipulates that a relevant organisation shall not permit any person to undertake relevant work or activities on behalf of the organisation, unless the organisation receives a vetting disclosure from the National Vetting Bureau (NVB) in respect of that person.

As a school, we depend on the parent body/adult community for support with numerous activities, for example:
  • class visits
  • cake sales
  • swimming supervision
  • family fun-day
  • after-school activity supervision, etc.

We therefore ask all parents/ guardians to fill in the NVB Form in order to establish a comprehensive list of volunteers. This allows for the school to run events and activities in accordance with current guidelines. Role for which you are volunteering needs to be specific e.g. Parental Helper – Supervision and lifts for tours/matches
Please return to the school office - the school must submit details for Vetting to take place. Once your details have been submitted you will receive a link via email to fill in all details of past addresses etc.
